What is the difference between the PIN and the digital key (secret code)?

Modified on Tue, 3 Nov at 6:11 PM

Please keep in mind that there are two important sets of numbers you need to remember: the Bit2Me Card PIN to make purchases in physical stores when prompted, and the digital key (secret code) to validate your online purchases and/or view your card details (CVV, expiry date, PIN code).

The Bit2Me Card PIN, or personal identification number, is a four-digit code used to verify that you are the cardholder. Much like a signature, it is used to confirm your identity and help protect you against fraud. This code is required when making an ATM cash withdrawal and when making an in-store purchase with your Bit2Me Card.

The digital key (secret code) is a code of at least eight digits used as a password across all your Bit2Me Cards to authorize online purchases of €50 or more, to view the CVV and expiry date, and to view your card's PIN.

To view your card details (CVV, expiry date, and PIN), you will need to enter the 6-digit code you receive via SMS from Pecunia (or directly on screen if you have Push notifications enabled) and then enter the digital key (secret code) you have set up.

If you don't remember your digital key (secret code), you can change it. To do so, follow the instructions in the following article: How do I change my digital key (secret code)?

⚠️ IMPORTANT
  • If you do not enable Push notifications, you will continue to receive your verification code via SMS from Pecunia, as usual.
